Job summary

FlatironDragados in Toronto is seeking an experienced Estimator who will prepare project estimates by analyzing specifications and contract plans to ensure cost‑effective quantities and construction methods align with pursuit, schedule and price goals.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in construction estimating or cost control, a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management, and knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Construction Management or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in construction estimating or cost control.
• Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Growing knowledge of alternative construction delivery methods.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specs and drawings to determine scope and estimate contents.
• Perform complete takeoffs and calculate material quantities from drawings.
• Input and analyze historical data to develop unit and hour estimates.
• Provide input on project risks to ensure alignment with schedule and cost goals.
• Support hand-off meetings between pursuit and project teams.
• Research vendors and subcontractors to meet pursuit and cost goals.
