Job summary

Pomerleau is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join the Building Operations team in Canada. You will support growth on large-scale projects from $1.5M to $1B, collaborating with proposals and client groups to secure bids and ensure project success.

Role requires 10+ years in estimating within ICI construction, strong knowledge of excavation and formwork, and proven leadership of junior team members. Hybrid work model is available for corporate roles.

Qualifications

• University Degree or College Diploma in Construction project estimation.
• 10+ years' relevant experience in estimating in the ICI construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of excavation and formwork.
• Previous experience leading and mentoring junior team members.
• Strong experience with estimation software.

Responsibilities

• Perform a quantitative evaluation of materials and manpower required for the work and verify quantities.
• Prepare quantity summaries from plans and specs, sorted by trades.
• Identify project-specific prices for labor, equipment, and materials.
• Maintain relationships with trade partners, consultants and clients to support project goals.
• Review supplier/subcontractor amounts for alignment with bid documents.
• Coordinate parties involved in estimation of design-build projects.
• Assist in sourcing new subcontractors, suppliers, and providers.
• Suggest and quantify alternatives to bid documents to reduce costs.
• Mentor junior team members and share best practices.

As an experienced Senior Estimator in the Building Operations team at Pomerleau Construction, you will support new and ongoing project growth and challenge industry standards with your trade-driven expertise and knowledge. Working on large-scale building and infrastructure projects - ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion - you will work closely with our proposals team and various client groups to secure bids and ensure project success.

What you will do

• Perform a quantitative evaluation of materials and manpower required for the work deemed decisive and verify the quantities given by the estimators.
• Prepare the summary of quantities according to the plans and specs and by sorting them according to the standardized sections and functions of the trades involved.
• Identify project-specific prices related to key items including labor, equipment and materials.
• Grow and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, consultants and clients to achieve project goals and vision.
• Thoroughly review all received amounts from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring their alignment with bid documents during compilation and bid closings.
• Take part in and/or coordinate the various parties involved in the estimation of a design-build project.
• Support in the search for new contacts subcontractors, suppliers, and work providers.
• Suggest and quantify alternatives to bid documents to reduce construction costs of bid projects.
• Act as a role model and mentor for your junior team members, providing coaching and guidance on best practices and trade secrets.

This Role Could Be For You If You Have

• A University Degree or College Diploma in Construction project estimation or a combination of education and industry experience.
• 10+ years' relevant experience in estimating in the ICI construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of excavation and formwork.
• Previous experience leading and mentoring junior team members.
• Strong experience working with estimation software.
