Job summary

BAUER Foundations Canada Inc. is seeking a Senior Estimator with a Civil Engineering background to respond to RFPs, interface with clients, and manage tender processes. You will analyze inquiries, propose design concepts, and coordinate with Operations to ensure accurate bids and specifications.

The role requires strong analytical skills, cost engineering awareness, and effective communication. Fluency in English is required; French is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or similar.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in ground engineering or special foundations.
• Experience with cost engineering or applications engineering is an asset.
• Proven proposal preparation and project engineering experience.

Job description

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Senior Estimator is responsible for responding to client Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and interfacing directly with clients.

This role requires a Civil Engineer with strong analytical capabilities and the ability to interpret complex technical specifications, develop design concepts, and manage all aspects of the tendering and bid preparation process.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Generate project and business opportunities through customer contact in alignment with BAUER Canada’s business plans and growth strategies
• Analyze inquiry packages, communicate with Clients and understand their needs
• Identify strategic selling points for each project and for each Client
• Assess alternate methods to provide cost and time savings to Clients
• Prepare and review technical tenders, bids, and tender documentation
• Interpret and respond to complex technical specifications
• Present design concepts to clients and other stakeholders
• Visit construction sites to obtain firsthand feedback from the Operations teams
• Negotiate and communicate complex technical and commercial issues to a variety of audiences
• Identify and evaluate new markets through prospecting, web research, and networking
• Maintain and update client databases and portals
• Attend and participate in industry events, professional groups, and networking associations
• Promote BAUER’s mission, vision, values, reputation, code of ethics, standards, policies, and procedures internally and externally

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

• Qualified candidates will have a Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or similar.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in ground engineering or special foundations
• Experience or qualifications in cost engineering or applications engineering are considered an asset
• Proven experience in proposal preparation and project engineering applications with successful outcomes
• Strong technical knowledge across a wide range of ground engineering and special foundation techniques
• Site experience in ground engineering techniques is desirable
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
• Ability to work under tight deadlines with excellent prioritization and time management
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Fluency in English required; French proficiency is an asset

SALARY RANGE

The base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 depending on experience.
