Job summary

EBC Inc. in Canada seeks a Senior Estimator to prepare accurate, timely estimates and budgets across varying project sizes. You will guide conceptual design-build, cost-plus, lump-sum and construction-management approaches, and support tendering and procurement through project design.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering required.
• Experience estimating civil construction projects.
• Experience with heavy civil pricing (cofferdams, shoring, bridges, in-water works).
• Experience using estimating software and adapting to new tools.
• Strong organizational, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for all estimating aspects of the Tendering process.
• Review tender documents to determine scope, milestones and constraints.
• Demonstrate knowledge of tender documents, drawings, specs and addenda.
• Provide detailed estimates with complete quantity take-off and scope.
• Build level 1 schedule in MS Project with resources and milestones.
• Prepare final estimate summaries, analyze scope, pricing and completeness.
• Maintain bid files with current prices from suppliers.
• Participate in post-bid interviews with operations team.
• Establish and maintain relationships with staff, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure internal bid review meetings with senior management.

The Senior Estimator is responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of multiple construction estimates and budgets of varying complexity and size for our clients. This position plays a key role in helping the team maintain its leading reputation in the industry and in continuing its rapid growth. The Senior Estimator estimates conceptual design-build, cost plus, lump sum and construction management projects, as well as works with the project team through to project design, tendering and vendor procurement.

As a Senior Estimator with our Civil Team, you will:

• Be responsible for all estimating aspects of the Tendering process;
  
• Review tender documents to determine the scope of work, including project milestones and constraints;
  
• Be responsible for having a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the tender documents, drawings, specifications, and addendum;
  
• Provide detailed estimates with complete quantity take-off, including the scope of work;
  
• Build level 1 schedule in MS Project with resources and project milestones;
  
• Prepare final estimate summaries, analyzing each section for scope, pricing, and completeness;
  
• Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate data, including current and accurate information on prices from suppliers;
  
• Participate in post-bid interviews with operations team;
  
• Provide leadership and establish and maintain compelling and harmonious relationships with all staff;
  
• Increase EBC’s brand and visibility in the GTA Market;
  
• Assist the Director, to ensure EBC meets the various milestones;
  
• Establish and keep outstanding communications between subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants;
  
• Ensure chair internal bid review meetings with EBC’s senior management.
  

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering;
  
• Previous experience in estimating civil construction projects;
  
• Experience in heavy civil pricing work such as cofferdams, shoring, road construction, bridge rehabilitation, in-water works;
  
• Experience using estimating software and systems and capacity to adapt to new estimating software;
  
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task;
  
• Experience with TPL Estimating software would be considered an asset;
  
• Advanced skills in management, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving;
  
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
  
• Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work;
  
• Estimate setup for job costing and job cost analysis of active and completed projects.

In accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation, EBC Inc. has included the expected salary range for this role, which is$95,000 - $145,000.Compensation within the range is determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, localization, and internal equity. Base salary is one component of EBC’s comprehensive total rewards offering, which may include performance-based incentives, extended health and wellness benefits, retirement savings programs, and career development opportunities.
