Job summary

Amico Major Projects Inc. is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead cost estimates for large ICI design-build projects in our Ontario division.

You will work with design teams, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure competitive and accurate bids and support preconstruction activities with robust cost data. You will manage the estimating process, develop databases, and drive opportunities with experience in high-scale infrastructure, roads, bridges or civil projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in a construction-related field.
• Minimum 8 years estimating experience in ICI or design-build environments.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as OST, Bluebeam, Excel or Timberline.

Responsibilities

• Lead the estimating process for ICI design-build projects from concept to tender.
• Review drawings and bid documents to prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Develop cost databases and analyze subcontractor quotations for bid accuracy.
• Collaborate with design teams to assess constructability and value engineering.

Position Overview:

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for leading the preparation of accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial (ICI) projects within Amico’s Design-Build Division. This individual will play a key role in preconstruction, proposal development, and design-assist efforts, collaborating closely with design teams, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure the successful pursuit and delivery of projects.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the full estimating process for ICI design-build projects from concept through to tender submission.

• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates.


• Develop and maintain cost databases, unit rates, and historical data for continuous estimating improvement.


• Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations; ensure proper scope coverage and bid leveling.


• Collaborate with design and engineering teams to evaluate constructability, value engineering opportunities, and cost impacts of design alternatives.


• Participate in preconstruction meetings, design reviews, and proposal presentations.


• Support project handover and assist operations teams with budget validation and cost tracking as needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.


• Minimum 8 years of estimating experience in ICI or design-build construction environments.


• Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and market pricing.


• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., OST, Bluebeam, MS Excel, Timberline, or similar tools).


• Experience with design-build or alternative project delivery models preferred.


• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.


• Proven ability to lead estimating efforts on large and complex projects independently.

Compensation: We offer a competitive hiring range of $140,000 to $175,000 per annum. Pay will align with skills, knowledge and experience of the candidate.
