Job summary

Michels Canada is seeking a Manager of Equipment and Yard Operations in Nisku, AB to lead the equipment fleet, yard operations, and maintenance planning.

You will manage procurement, budgeting, cost control, and cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Finance, Procurement, IT, and field teams. The role emphasizes safety culture, asset optimization, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field with leadership experience.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership in equipment management, fleet, yard operations, or similar environments.
• Strong knowledge of equipment lifecycle management, maintenance planning, procurement, and asset utilization.
• Experience managing budgets and cost control in complex operations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies and regulations.
• Lead equipment and yard operations, including allocation, warehousing, inventory control, yard management, and transport coordination.
• Develop staff through recruitment, training, performance management, workforce planning, and employee relations.
• Oversee equipment lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, maintenance planning, utilization, replacement, and disposal.
• Ensure equipment reliability through preventive maintenance programs and coordination of repairs.
• Manage yard operations and inventory levels to ensure efficient organization, flow, and equipment availability.
• Develop and manage operating and capital budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and variance analysis.
• Lead procurement and vendor management to optimize cost and service.
• Track and report equipment performance, utilization, costs, and KPIs for decision-making.
