Job Description

We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a 550+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 20 office locations in Canada. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of advisory and over 30 technical environmental and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability, we are Making Sustainability Happen.

As our new Senior Environmental Project Manager, you will play an important role on our Site Assessment and Remediation team in the Greater Toronto Area and/or Guelph Region.

Role

In this position, you’ll take on full project management responsibilities for programs related to the assessment, monitoring, management, and remediation of contaminated sites and excess soil management. With support from SLR’s senior staff, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality work to a variety of clients, including projects at urban and remote sites, midstream and downstream oil and gas facilities, commercial and industrial properties, and federal and municipal sites. Your expertise will be invaluable as you work closely with clients, maintain satisfaction, build long-term relationships, and grow our portfolio.

Your responsibilities include preparing proposals and work plans, executing projects, managing budgets, client communication, data analysis, reviews, and reporting. The role is primarily office-based with opportunities for fieldwork, mentoring staff, and supporting project needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delegate and oversee project tasks, manage small technical groups and programs, and ensure project delivery.
  • Communicate directly with clients to ensure high satisfaction.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff in project management and fieldwork, while being mentored by senior staff.
  • Lead health and safety initiatives through open communication.
  • Participate in all aspects of contaminated site projects, including ESAs, remediation, excess soil management, field sampling, and reporting.
  • Conduct field programs involving sampling and monitoring of soil, groundwater, surface water, vapor, and remediation systems.
  • Manage schedules and budgets, and track project progress.

Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in environmental science, engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in contaminated site work, including assessments, sampling, and remediation.
  • Experience in land development, infrastructure, or construction management is an asset.
  • Knowledge of O. Reg. 406/19 and peer review support is an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Professional status (P.Eng., P.Geo.) or eligibility preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for site visits.
