Senior Environmental Planner

Due to the success of our growing airports portfolio in the Greater Toronto Area, we are hiring a Regulatory Permitting Manager. This role involves leading and overseeing the successful delivery of complex projects, ensuring they meet scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk management standards. Candidates should have extensive experience managing large infrastructure projects, especially in international airport development or similar complex programs.

Location: Toronto, ON

Your role within the team:

  • Oversee environmental reviews for the Facility Alteration Permit (FAP) process related to the Pearson LIFT program, ensuring compliance with environmental standards;
  • Provide technical expertise on environmental processes, permitting, and compliance;
  • Ensure the program and design strategies include all relevant environmental requirements;
  • Support project teams with environmental strategies, data inputs, and analysis;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and mitigate environmental risks;
  • Consult with agencies regarding environmental plans and monitor regulations affecting the Pearson LIFT program;
  • Work with Program Delivery and Technical Shared Services teams to plan and validate environmental aspects;
  • Mentor and support the career development of GTAA staff.

The ideal candidate:

  • Holds a degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or related field; professional qualification (QP) is a plus;
  • Has at least 10 years of experience in environmental planning within construction/development industries;
  • Possesses a minimum of 5 years monitoring and delivering environmental aspects in infrastructure projects; experience with large programs is a plus;
  • Has worked with federal and provincial environmental agencies and understands regulations like IAA, CEPA, Fisheries Act;
  • Has experience managing and reporting on contaminated sites;
  • Is skilled in data management and producing technical reports;
  • Has led small teams of technical specialists or engineers.
