Robinson Consultants Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer – Transportation Services for Ottawa, Vaughan or Hamilton to lead municipal transportation design, construction and planning projects across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and Ottawa.

You will mentor staff, manage budgets and schedules, ensure quality deliverables, and contribute to proposals and business development. Hybrid work options and a competitive salary are offered.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive engineering design experience including roadway and active transportation.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with PEO or CET/Tech certification.
• 5+ years mentoring engineers, technicians, or designers.
• Experience with municipal transportation design and project delivery.

Robinson Consultants is seeking a self-motivated Senior Engineer – Transportation Services Greater Toronto, Hamilton Area (GTHA) or Ottawa to join the collaborative and dynamic team working out of either our Vaughan, Hamilton or Ottawa office. This position is responsible for technical expertise on project teams that may include design or engineering for a wide range of municipal transportation design, construction and planning projects, and multi-disciplinary assignments for both private and public sector clients including, local and arterial roads, complete streets, active transportation facilities, roundabouts and protected intersections.

What you’ll be doing:

As a member of the Transportation Services team, the duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Providing expert consultancy within their area of expertise, serving as key expert on project teams.
• Developing and delivering leading-edge technologies and services.
• Working in partnership with a project manager as the key technical expert on the project team, collaborating to define the problem, establishing the scope of work, preparing budgets and schedules, planning the work, and providing technical direction and oversight.
• Responsible for overseeing the technical quality of all deliverables – on time, within budget, and to the client’s satisfaction.
• Developing and promoting technical solutions and playing a critical role in proposal pursuits, marketing, and business development efforts with responsibility for content marketing, project positioning, and proposal technical content development.
• Driven to advance and develop the overall expertise within the company through knowledge transfer.
• Overseeing the technical components of project reports and proposals.
• Providing overall project management duties and or lead design efforts on some projects.
• Work with the Manager of Transportation Services to develop and execute strategic growth of the Transportation group in the Greater Toronto, Hamilton Area or Ottawa Area.

You should have:

• Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) or 3-year Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or related field) or 2-year Diploma in Construction Engineering Technician.
• Current Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Current Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Current Certified Technician (C.Tech.).
• 10 years or more of progressive engineering design experience including roadway design, active transportation, AODA considerations, and roadway safety.
• 4 years or more of demonstrated expertise in relevant area of engineering focus as a Senior Project Engineer.
• 5 years or more of providing effective mentoring to engineers, technicians, or designers.
• Demonstrated expertise in municipal transportation design and engineering.
• Experience in schedule control, budget management, and risk identification and mitigation.
• Superior client and interpersonal skills, combined with strong team and leadership abilities.
• Highly proficient with the principles and practices of transportation engineering and especially processes, practices, and standards used in the design and construction of transportation infrastructure.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance diverse, changing, and conflicting priorities to meet short and long-term project milestones.
• Up to date knowledge in the trends and changes in transportation infrastructure design.
• Demonstrated experience with proposal and business development.
