Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctorate in Electrical Engineering with a strong power systems focus.
  • Minimum 1 year of North American power grid analytics and markets experience.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on grid analytics using PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS/E, TARA or DSA tools.
  • Proven contributions to industry forums or thought leadership activities.
  • Solid understanding of power systems fundamentals, including FACTS and inverter-based resources.

Responsibilities

  • Perform generation and transmission modeling, including load flow and contingency assessments.

ZEGCanadacontinues to grow rapidly and is seeking a candidate to support our power systems analytics services as a Senior Power Systems Analytics Engineer. As a core member of the team, the ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, personable, and professionally driven, with a strong interest in contributing to ZEG’s mission of decarbonizing the power grid. The Senior Power Systems Analytics Engineer candidate is expected to bring subject-matterexpertisein transmission and generation planning, along with a solid understanding of power market dynamics and North American stakeholder processes.

WhatYou’llDoas the Senior Power Systems Analytics Engineer
  • – Support the execution of our technical services including performing various advanced generation and transmission related modeling and analyses including advanced modeling of emerging technologies, load flow analysis, short circuit assessment, transient and sub-transientanalysisand production cost modeling.
  • – Develop andmaintainan in-depth understanding ofNorth Americaregional transmission, generation, and large-load planning processes, applicable NERC planning standards, and relevant regional business manuals, handbooks, and procedures
  • – Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders, including providing status updates, responding to inquiries, andrepresentingZEG in external stakeholder meetings
  • – Prepare high-quality technical deliverables, including technical reports, white papers, and presentations
  • – Participate in industry forums and thought-leadership activities to stay current with emerging trends and best practices
  • – Foster innovation and creative problem-solving to address industry challenges with effective and efficient solutions
  • – Develop ormodifyautomation scripts to improve the efficiency of grid-wide simulations
  • – Contribute to the team’s research and innovation initiatives, including the development of new analytical tools and techniques
Required Qualifications
  • – Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited institution in electrical engineering(Ph.D. preferred)
  • – Minimum ofoneyear of relevant experience in power grid analytics, power markets, and grid code compliance within North America. Relevant post-graduate research and coursework may be considered toward this requirement.
  • – Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in performing advanced power grids analytics using PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS/E,TARAor DSA tools.
  • – Proventrack recordof activities and contributions to relevant industry thought leadership forums.
  • – In-depth understanding of the fundamentals of electric power systems, inverter-based resources, FACTs, and their control philosophy.
  • – Strong attention to detail
  • – Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • – Excellent presentation and report writing skills.
  • – Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
  • – Travel is expected to beapproximately upto 10% of the time.
  • – We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

  • – Ability to successfully complete at least two supervised technical interviews& assignments
  • – Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and criminal background screening, including periodic, unannounced random drug testing asrequired
