Job summary

Ontario Public Service, Ministry of Transportation, seeks a Senior Engineer with aggregates and soils testing expertise. You will lead laboratory quality systems, policy development and evaluation of new technologies while guiding staff and coordinating cross‑regional projects.

You will travel province‑wide to support laboratory testing programs, develop standards and deliver technical presentations to stakeholders. PE licensure and a valid G license are required.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer licensed with PEO.
• Valid driver’s licence (Class G) or equivalent.
• Knowledge of materials engineering, quality control, QA, and standards for soils and aggregates.
• Experience with testing, analysis and statistical procedures in standards development.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and oversee systems for evaluating and controlling the quality of construction materials.
• Inspect, evaluate and provide expertise in laboratory testing standards and techniques.
• Develop and direct projects leading to new policies, guidelines, standards and specifications.
• Conduct proficiency testing to measure laboratory performance and identify improvements.
• Develop and update procedures manuals and training aids.
• Evaluate performance of new technologies, systems and equipment.
• Evaluate and recommend new construction materials and processes.
• Supervise and provide guidance to staff and consultants.
• Deliver presentations to stakeholders on lab and research activities.
