What You’ll Do

As an Engagement Manager, you will make an important contribution to the strategy, design, and implementation of business decisions to ensure positive impact and sustainable results. You will develop tailor-made solutions, lead engagements, and act as the key point of contact for your clients, senior leaders, sponsors, and other stakeholders within Hatch. You will lead and provide mentorship to your team while coordinating resources and owning the outcome.

  1. Lead end-to-end engagements, delivering quantifiable impact (cost savings, improved KPI, etc.).
  2. Actively manage and lead SMEs in an engagement.
  3. Ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of projects while providing quality assurance to ensure work is delivered to the highest possible standard.
  4. Supervise, coach, and participate in the value creation process across the team.
  5. Structure problems and define the workstreams to deliver impact.
  6. Respond to client concerns efficiently, proactively coaching clients in problem structuring and solving.
  7. Anticipate barriers to successful analysis and guide the team in resolving them.
  8. Develop a growing client network and build effective relationships with new clients.
  9. Proactively engage key client stakeholders to update/manage expectations.
  10. Take global best practices and customize for client context.
  11. Identify opportunities and invest time to coach team members.
  12. Actively seek out opportunities to develop innovative solutions and services.
  13. Assist with the project risk evaluations and management processes, including start-up planning activities, holding workshops, assessments, and developing business philosophy and operational strategy.


What You Bring to the Role

  1. 8-10+ years of management consulting.
  2. An undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or equivalent.
  3. Advanced graduate degree e.g., MBA, PhD, or equivalent is advantageous.
  4. Proven experience in mining, metals, energy, or infrastructure projects.
  5. Solid functional knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Strategy, Transaction Support, Business Transformation, Capital Productivity, Supply Chain, Asset & Maintenance Management, Organization Effectiveness, and Risk Management.
  6. Experience in managing and executing large-scale operational engagements.
  7. Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and the ability to distill value during projects.
  8. Proven client relationship management and business development skills.
  9. Motivating and supportive leadership skills.
