Job summary

BinSentry is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Developer to design, build, and maintain software for embedded systems used in feed-bin sensors. You will develop in C/C++ on microcontrollers with FreeRTOS and drive embedded Linux projects using Yocto, while writing Python tools to support the HD line.

You will debug hardware with oscilloscopes, optimize performance, and ensure reliable fleet deployments. A strong background in embedded software and cross-functional collaboration is essential for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, CS or related field (or equivalent).
• 5+ years professional embedded software experience on embedded devices.
• Proficient in mission-critical C/C++ and Python.
• Experience debugging hardware issues with tools like oscilloscopes.
• Nice-to-have: FreeRTOS, AWS IoT, Embedded Linux, Yocto, JavaScript, computer vision, bootloaders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software for embedded systems across BinSentry hardware and software teams.
• Write embedded C for microcontrollers driving feed bin sensors using FreeRTOS.
• Lead embedded Linux projects using Yocto and write Python tooling to support the HD line.
• Perform system debugging, reliability testing, performance optimization, and fleet deployments.
• Contribute across the product line, including new hardware software integration.

As we scale up, we're looking for a Senior Embedded Software Developer to help us build the embedded software that is changing the face of the feed industry.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain software for embedded systems, working closely with BinSentry's hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration. You will write embedded C for the microcontrollers which drive our feed bin sensors using FreeRTOS. You will drive our embedded Linux project using Yocto and write Python code, which supports our HD line. You will be responsible for writing power-efficient and reliable/resilient code, conducting system debugging, reliability testing, optimizing performance and managing fleet deployments. You will work across our entire product line, including writing software for brand new hardware projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years working professionally writing software for embedded devices
• Proficient in writing mission-critical C or C++ and Python
• Proficient debugging hardware issues
• Not afraid to jump in and solve an issue with an oscilloscope
• Experience with FreeRTOS a plus
• Experience with AWS IoT ecosystem a plus
• Experience working with embedded Linux devices a plus
• Experience working with Yocto a plus
• JavaScript proficiency a plus
• Computer vision experience a plus
• Experience working with cellular modems a plus
• Experience working with bootloaders a plus
