Job summary

Serve Robotics is seeking a Senior/Staff Embedded Software Engineer to design, build, test, and maintain robotics middleware in C++ on embedded Linux. You will own major platform components and drive validation, deployment, and operations across the robot fleet.

You will collaborate with autonomy, systems, and hardware teams, implementing fault-tolerant, real-time software with strong observability and diagnostics. Remote work is supported internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Robotics/Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years professional software engineering in C++17+.
• Experience in production software on embedded Linux.
• Strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency and IPC.
• Ability to own complex components end-to-end and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain robotics middleware and application frameworks using modern C++ on embedded Linux.
• Own significant platform components from design through deployment and operation across the robot fleet.
• Collaborate with teams to improve reliability, performance and developer experience.
• Translate safety and reliability requirements into software behavior and verification.
• Lead design reviews and contribute to standards, documentation, and mentoring.
