Placements24 is seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to join a fully remote team. You will design, develop, and test firmware for sophisticated embedded hardware, collaborating with a distributed group from anywhere in South Africa.

The role requires 6+ years of embedded systems experience, strong C/C++ skills, RTOS and embedded Linux, and proficiency with hardware debugging tools. This is a high-impact position with flexible hours and a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of professional embedded systems development experience.
• Proficient in C/C++ for embedded environments.
• Experience with RTOS and embedded Linux.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and debug firmware for microcontrollers and embedded systems.
• Implement low-level drivers and optimize software for performance and resource constraints.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system architecture and integration strategies.
• Develop and execute unit and integration tests for embedded software.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware-software integration issues in a remote setting.
• Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and process improvements.
