Job summary

Generac Power Systems in Canada seeks a Senior Electrical Test Engineer for its BESS Engineering Team. The role coordinates testing of ESS, PCS, and generator systems, develops test plans, and records results, driving validation from component to system level.

You will collaborate with engineers across disciplines, perform root cause analyses, and mentor junior staff, while supporting safety standards and regulatory requirements. Typical schedule is Fri–Mon, 9am–5pm EST.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with stored energy and high levels of AC/DC current and voltage.
• Hands-on experience running tests on complex electronic components and/or systems, including oscilloscopes and power supplies.
• Experience developing component and/or system-level Test Plans, Test Procedures, and Test Reports.
• Strong decision-making and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate testing on ESS, PCS, and generator systems, including droop curve analysis and firmware testing.
• Generate site plans and single line diagrams (SLDs) using AutoCAD.
• Coordinate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve testing issues and align test scope.
• Develop test plans and procedures for battery energy storage products and validate system-level performance.
• Execute electrical, functional, environmental, and reliability testing of BESS hardware and control systems.
• Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective actions for issues identified during development or field operation.
• Document test plans, procedures, reports, and validation results.
