Job summary

GenCore Ltd. seeks an experienced Electrical Substation Designer to support the engineering and design of distribution and transmission substations across Ontario and Canada.

You will prepare detailed drawings, layouts, BOMs, and construction packages while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will have a Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, 5–7 years of substation design experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD and Microstation.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering.
• 5–7 years of experience in electrical substation design.
• Experience designing distribution and transmission substations required.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microstation.
• Knowledge of CSA, IEEE, IEC, CEC, and utility design standards.
• Valid Ontario Driver's Licence and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary and detailed design drawings for distribution and transmission substations.
• Develop substation layouts including transformer, breakers, and equipment arrangements.
• Prepare single-line and three-line diagrams, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
• Produce BOMs, material requisitions, and construction packages.
• Coordinate design activities with other engineering teams and review vendor drawings.
