Job summary

Houle Electric Canada is seeking an experienced Intermediate to Senior Electrical Estimator to join our Pre-construction team. Remote work options are available for the right candidate and reporting to the Chief Estimator.

You will develop cost estimates for projects ranging from $1M to $100M, prepare RFQs, and collaborate with suppliers and customers to ensure accurate, competitive bids. Mentoring junior estimators is encouraged as part of your leadership role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience estimating electrical work for construction projects.
• Engineering status: AScT, EIT, or P.Eng.
• Knowledge of electrical tendering processes and Bid Depository regulations.
• Understanding of sub-trades and installation methods.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Experience with estimating software such as Accubid or LiveCount.

Responsibilities

• Estimate project costs, assemble take-offs, and develop quotations.
• Request quotations and obtain competitive pricing from suppliers and subs contractors.
• Develop quotations for opportunities from $1M to $100M.
• Proof-read estimates for scope and specifications.
• Maintain communication with suppliers and customers.
• Draft proposals and submit tenders with specialized requirements.
• Contribute to bid labour and material databases.
• Analyze pricing for cost savings and process improvements.
• Assist Chief Estimator in determining indirect costs and overheads.
• Mentor junior estimators.
