Job summary

Wataynikaneyap Power PM Inc. seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to oversee substation operations, protection and control, and SCADA functions in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The role reports to Operations leadership and supports system reliability, cybersecurity, and asset management across transmission projects.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of experience in regulated utilities, familiarity with IESO rules and NERC-CIP, and a Professional Engineer license or eligibility (Ontario). Travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
• 5+ years of experience in substation equipment, protection and control, and/or control room operations.
• Familiarity with bulk electrical system components and transmission system planning.
• Knowledge of SCADA, NERC-CIP standards, IESO Market Rules, and transmission planning.
• Ontario G driver’s license with clean abstract; travel required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine procedures for system operation, control, outage response, and restoration.
• Ensure compliance with IESO Market Rules, Ontario Reliability Compliance Program, and industry best practices.
• Oversee integration and commissioning of new assets and control room functionality.
• Lead long-term control room strategy and system performance reporting.
• Provide mentorship in substation equipment, SCADA, and communications systems; collaborate with partners.
