Job summary

WSP in Canada is seeking a Senior SCADA Engineer based in Edmonton, Alberta. You will lead design and integration of SCADA, automation, and control systems for utility and industrial clients, delivering reliable and secure power solutions.

You will mentor engineers, develop network architectures, and collaborate across disciplines on complex projects, with travel as needed. A PE designation in Canada and 8+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering.
• PE designation in Canada or eligible for registration.
• 8+ years of experience in SCADA, automation, communications, protection and control environments.
• Expertise with IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, OPC/UA.
• Experience with RTACs, HMIs, networked control systems, and substation integration.
• Knowledge of OT cybersecurity principles and secure communications networks.
• Demonstrated success leading technical discussions, mentoring team members, and delivering client-focused solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and integration of SCADA, automation, communications, and control systems for utility and industrial clients.
• Develop communication architectures, network designs, and technical specifications that enhance reliability and cybersecurity.
• Deliver IEC 61850 digital substation solutions and support modern grid infrastructure initiatives.
• Configure and commission RTUs, IEDs, PLCs, HMIs, and associated automation platforms.
• Support project execution through technical documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal disciplines to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence, proposals, and estimates.
• Advance resilient and sustainable energy systems through innovative engineering solutions.
