Job summary

TransAlta seeks an Intermediate to Senior Electrical Engineer to support safe and efficient operation of generating stations in Kingston, Ontario. The role covers technical research, equipment evaluation, cost estimation and regulatory compliance, with up to 30% travel to remote sites. Relocation support may be considered for ideal candidates.

The position requires an Electrical Engineering degree, P.Eng. eligibility, and 4–6 years of power‑generation experience.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering degree from a recognized institution and professional registration eligibility (P.Eng.).
• 4-6 years of relevant experience in power generation or related field.
• Hands-on experience with electrical equipment, power systems, protection and coordination.
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code and proficiency with MS Office and cloud tools.

Responsibilities

• Handle electrical, high voltage, medium voltage, protection and control projects for the generating fleet.
• Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting for equipment issues.
• Develop technical specifications, bid evaluations and design reviews.
• Support maintenance activities, outages, and project development from concept to contracts.
