We are seeking an experienced, accomplished, and self-motivated Senior Electrical Engineer with project management experience to work in the Electrical group based out of either our Barrie, Collingwood or Guelph office.

The Senior Electrical Engineer – Power will prepare detailed design of High and Medium Voltage systems, up to 44kV systems, at the utility and site level, with understanding of generation and distribution systems, substation design, utility interconnection, and protection and control. Experience dealing with utility companies, clients, and renewable energy systems is essential.

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for creating and implementing processes and designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software, assisting Group Leaders and Managers with business development, providing technical direction, and mentoring junior staff. They will also plan and oversee projects to ensure timely and within-budget completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations using relevant software and standards
• Manage or prepare detailed design drawings using AutoCAD, adhering to standards
• Prepare electrical specifications, ensuring equipment specifications are current
• Review relevant codes and standards
• Conduct preliminary reviews and monitor construction progress
• Conduct site visits as needed
• Prepare project proposals with scope, budget, schedule, and deliverables
• Manage projects including coordination, documentation, budgets, timelines, and risk mitigation

Key Position Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• P.Eng. in Ontario
• 10-15 years relevant experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD
• Knowledge of Ontario Building and Electrical Safety Codes
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Experience in business development and project management is an asset
• Ability to handle multiple projects independently
• Valid driver’s license and transportation
