Job summary

Peter Lucas Project Management is seeking a hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer for a six‑month on‑site engagement in Canada. The role focuses on leading electrical activities during construction, commissioning readiness, and turnover, with the potential for extension.

Work on site in Vancouver for the described two weeks on, one week off pattern. The successful candidate will guide electrical design, field coordination, safety emphasis, and technical problem solving across LNG, oil & gas,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration in British Columbia preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level electrical engineering support during construction completion activities.
• Support resolution of electrical technical issues, field queries, deficiencies, and non-conformances.
• Review construction documents, drawings, specifications, vendor information and deliverables to support completion.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering, commissioning, operations, contractors and vendors to resolve electrical issues.
• Assist with system completion, walkdowns, inspections, punch-list development, and closeout.
• Review field changes and ensure proper documentation.

This six-month opportunity is suited to a hands‑on Senior Electrical Engineer with strong construction and field experience who can provide technical leadership as the project progresses through completion, commissioning readiness, and turnover. Extension on the role can be disucsses.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level electrical engineering support during construction completion activities.
• Support the resolution of electrical technical issues, field queries, deficiencies, and non‑conformances.
• Review construction documentation, drawings, specifications, vendor information, and engineering deliverables to support completion activities.
• Work closely with construction, engineering, commissioning, operations, contractors, and vendors to resolve outstanding electrical issues.
• Support system completion, walkdowns, inspections, punch‑list development, and closeout.
• Review and provide technical input into field changes and ensure changes are appropriately documented.
• Support verification that electrical installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Assist with construction‑to‑commissioning turnover and ensure electrical systems are ready for commissioning and start‑up activities.
• Provide technical guidance related to electrical equipment and systems, including power distribution, switchgear, transformers, motors, protection and control systems, grounding, and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Monitor and support the closure of outstanding engineering and construction items that could impact project completion.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure engineering decisions support safe construction, commissioning, and operation.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in British Columbia.
• Significant electrical engineering experience within LNG, oil and gas, mining, energy, or other heavy industrial environments.
• Strong experience supporting construction completions, commissioning, and/or project turnover.
• Demonstrated experience resolving technical issues in an active construction environment.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, installation practices, and commissioning requirements.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
• Strong technical problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, site‑based project environment.
