Job summary

Peter Lucas Project Management Inc. is seeking a hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer to lead construction completion activities on a six-month, site-based assignment in Vancouver. The role emphasizes technical leadership, commissioning readiness, and project turnover within heavy industrial sectors.

You will review drawings, resolve field issues, coordinate with contractors and operations, and ensure compliance with electrical standards while promoting safety and high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration in British Columbia required.
• Significant electrical engineering experience in LNG, oil & gas, mining, energy or heavy industry.
• Strong experience in construction completions, commissioning and project turnover.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, installation practices, and commissioning requirements.

Responsibilities

• Resolve electrical technical issues, field queries, deficiencies, and non-conformances.
• Review construction documentation, drawings, specifications, vendor information, and deliverables.

• Support system completion, walkdowns, inspections, punch-list development and closeout.
• Ensure electrical installations comply with drawings, standards, and project requirements.

This six-month opportunity is suited to a hands‑on Senior Electrical Engineer with strong construction and field experience who can provide technical leadership as the project progresses through completion, commissioning readiness, and turnover.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior‑level electrical engineering support during construction completion activities.
• Support the resolution of electrical technical issues, field queries, deficiencies, and non‑conformances.
• Review construction documentation, drawings, specifications, vendor information, and engineering deliverables to support completion activities.
• Work closely with construction, engineering, commissioning, operations, contractors, and vendors to resolve outstanding electrical issues.
• Support system completion, walkdowns, inspections, punch‑list development, and closeout.
• Review and provide technical input into field changes and ensure changes are appropriately documented.
• Support verification that electrical installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Assist with construction‑to‑commissioning turnover and ensure electrical systems are ready for commissioning and start‑up activities.
• Provide technical guidance related to electrical equipment and systems, including power distribution, switchgear, transformers, motors, protection and control systems, grounding, and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Monitor and support the closure of outstanding engineering and construction items that could impact project completion.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure engineering decisions support safe construction, commissioning, and operation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in British Columbia.
• Significant electrical engineering experience within LNG, oil and gas, mining, energy, or other heavy industrial environments.
• Strong experience supporting construction completions, commissioning, and/or project turnover.
• Demonstrated experience resolving technical issues in an active construction environment.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, installation practices, and commissioning requirements.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
• Strong technical problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, site‑based project environment.
