Job summary

Peter Lucas Project Management is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead Pre-FEED and FEED phases of a major debottlenecking project. The role focuses on early equipment identification and ordered procurement, with engineering oversight across multiple stakeholders and a contractor interface.

The Senior Project Engineer will act as the owner's in-house technical representative, ensuring safe, efficient delivery aligned with objectives and standards, with wages negotiable based on experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
• 8+ years of project engineering experience in industrial, mining, mineral processing, energy, or heavy industrial environments.
• Experience managing Pre-FEED and/or FEED engineering scopes.
• Experience with external engineering consultants or EPC/EPCM contractors.
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering, design development, equipment procurement, and project execution.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Pre-FEED and FEED scopes for the debottlenecking project.
• Provide oversight of engineering activities, deliverables, schedules, costs, and priorities.
• Ensure engineering work aligns with project objectives and standards.
• Coordinate input from internal stakeholders across engineering, operations, maintenance, and project teams.
• Facilitate technical reviews, design reviews, risk assessments, and project decisions.
• Identify and manage long-lead equipment requirements and interfaces.
• Support early procurement of long-lead equipment and materials.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure timely, quality deliverables.
• Support development of the project execution strategy for detailed engineering.
• Document and communicate decisions, actions, and changes.
• Provide regular reporting on progress, risks, and milestones.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead and manage the Pre-FEED and FEED phases of a major debottlenecking project working Monday - Friday 40hrs a week.

This is an opportunity to join a project at an important early stage. Debottlenecking engineering will be undertaken in parallel with the initial plant start-up activities, allowing long-lead equipment to be identified and ordered early and enabling the subsequent detailed design and implementation phases to be accelerated.

The Senior Project Engineer will act as the owner's in-house technical and project representative, providing oversight of the engineering contractor and ensuring the work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the execution of the Pre-FEED and FEED scopes for the debottlenecking project
• Provide oversight and coordination of engineering activities, deliverables, schedules, costs, and priorities
• Ensure engineering work aligns with project objectives, operational requirements, applicable standards, and overall business priorities
• Coordinate input and reviews from internal engineering, operations, maintenance, project, and other stakeholders
• Facilitate technical reviews, design reviews, risk assessments, and key project decision points
• Identify and manage engineering interfaces, risks, constraints, and opportunities
• Support the early identification, specification, and procurement of long-lead equipment and materials
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure engineering deliverables are completed to the required quality and schedule
• Support development of the project execution strategy for detailed engineering and implementation
• Ensure decisions, actions, changes, and technical requirements are appropriately documented and communicated
• Provide regular reporting on engineering progress, risks, issues, and upcoming milestones

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
• 8+ years of project engineering experience within industrial, mining, mineral processing, energy, or other heavy industrial environments
• Demonstrated experience managing Pre-FEED and/or FEED engineering scopes
• Experience working with and managing external engineering consultants or EPC/EPCM contractors
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering, design development, equipment procurement, and project execution
• Experience identifying and managing long-lead equipment requirements is an asset
• Strong project management, coordination, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
• Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and drive decisions in a fast-paced project environment
