Job summary

Arup in Ottawa is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for federal government projects across healthcare, laboratories, commercial, higher education, aviation, and rail. The role offers autonomy to lead the Ottawa electrical discipline while collaborating with teams in Montreal and Toronto.

You will prepare drawings, specifications, technical reports and presentations, maintain client relationships, and contribute to project performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 6+ years of electrical engineering experience designing building or infrastructure electrical systems.
• Ability to lead the electrical discipline on projects and work independently.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with 3D BIM tools, preferably Revit MEP.
• Solid knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards.
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating with architects and contractors.
• Excellent writing and presentation skills to communicate design concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of electrical systems on medium to large-scale projects, including power, lighting, fire alarm, grounding, interconnection, and surge protection.
• Act as lead electrical designer, ensuring technical quality and timely delivery.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, technical reports, and presentation materials.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors and equipment suppliers across Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto as needed.
• Maintain strong client relationships and support project performance and business development.
• Perform electrical load, short-circuit, voltage drop, and photometric calculations.
