Job summary

Government of Alberta is seeking a Senior Education Analyst in Edmonton to support school funding allocations, enrolment projections, and budget analyses. You will develop models, coordinate surveys, and collaborate with program managers and technologists to deliver timely financial insights.

The role requires strong statistics, Excel, SPSS, and systems-thinking skills, with a focus on delivering accurate analyses to inform executive decisions within the Education and Childcare ministry.

Qualifications

• Experience applying statistical methodologies, collecting, validating, and analyzing quantitative data and using advanced Excel functions for financial analysis.
• Ability to develop scenarios, models, forecasts, and analytical approaches for budget/funding/enrolment issues.
• Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills to interpret legislation, policy, funding, demographics, and stakeholders.
• Experience preparing clear financial data, allocation profiles, and budget projections for senior leadership.
• Ability to investigate new methods/tools/technologies to improve analytics products.

Responsibilities

• Develop scenarios, models, and methods to describe, examine, and evaluate budget solutions.
• Collaborate with program managers and senior technologists to promote teamwork and high-quality service.
• Develop surveys and coordinate implementation, applying appropriate statistical methods.
• Prepare annual school funding framework allocations and manage budget profiles and enrolment projections.
• Investigate new approaches to identify analytical solutions for stakeholders.
• Forecast funding models considering demographic changes and grant rates.
• Analyze jurisdictional-differences in funding models for adequacy and equity.
• Provide financial data to Executive Team and Ministers for decision-making.
