Job summary

ZTR Control Systems in Ontario, Canada is seeking an experienced software architect to design and implement edge device solutions, optimizing performance, security, and reliability across the SDLC.

You will lead code reviews, develop testing strategies, mentor junior developers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams while advancing AI-assisted development and secure communication protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or related field.
• Expert proficiency in at least one embedded programming language.
• Advanced knowledge of Linux systems programming.
• Experience with networking fundamentals and edge device protocols.
• Familiarity with Git and CI principles.
• Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
• Experience with testing methodologies (unit, integration).
• Knowledge of IoT and edge security best practices.
• Willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Architect software solutions for edge devices, optimizing performance, security, and reliability.
• Develop communication interfaces between devices and back-end systems.
• Define and implement coding standards, workflows, and QA practices.
• Design and execute robust testing strategies, including automated tests.
• Lead code reviews and collaborate across all SDLC phases.
• Implement security measures for embedded systems, such as encryption and event logging.
• Maintain efficient workflows and accurate documentation using Jira and Confluence.
• Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and practices.
• Mentor junior and intermediate developers in best practices and edge computing design.
