Role : Senior Designer

Location : Toronto, ON

About the role :

OLIVER is hiring a Senior Designer to join the team in our Toronto office!

Reporting to the Creative Director, the Senior Designer is involved in all phases of work, including research, concept exploration, design development and finalization. They will be responsible for creating and executing high quality design concepts while maintaining brand continuity. The Senior Designer can not only create show-stopping work, but can explain the WHY behind their design decisions. We’re looking for someone that has exceptional design skills, commitment to the craft, and a keen eye for detail.

What you will be doing :

  • Manage and contribute on those projects allocated to you, as part of a dedicated in-house design team, to the satisfactory delivery of creative concept, design and artwork requirement.
  • Work actively with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of the highest quality of creative product and level of customer service.
  • Working with the Creative Director, the Senior Designer will manage and supervise direct reports, harnessing their development and performance.
  • Take ownership and accountability for the service levels delivered on the projects and accounts you have responsibility for, at the highest standard possible.
  • Foster and develop key client relationships to deliver excellent customer service.

What you need to be great in this role :

  • Minimum 5-6 years of artwork, design, creative concept work and client liaison experience.
  • Preferably 1-3 years of staff management experience.
  • A highly creative designer with the ability to take and positively influence client briefs with your own innovative ideas.
  • Confident in bringing your own ideas and creativity to projects whilst working within a broad range of design guidelines across a variety of media.
  • The ability to manage and filter workflow as well as organize and prioritize workloads to maximize productivity.
  • Mastery of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
  • Strong layout and typography skills.
  • Illustration ability a bonus.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Enthusiasm, confidence and a can-do attitude.
  • To be resilient and able to use feedback as a tool to progress and improve.
  • The aptitude to learn new software and programs efficiently and effectively.
