The opportunity:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Marketing and Communications, the Senior Graphic Designer (Contract) will have the opportunity to conceptualize and craft diverse design solutions that adhere to MODC's style and brand guidelines and prioritize accessibility.
As our Senior Graphic Designer, you'll be an integral part of the Marketing and Communications team, where your ideas and insights will amplify MODC's marketing efforts and elevate our visual branding. You will engage with various program and business areas within MODC, identifying unique graphic design needs and delivering customized designs that drive success.
This is an 18-month, full-time contract.
Responsibilities:
· Develops, maintains, and serves as an internal resource on visual branding standards for the organization
· Receives briefings and evaluates marketing and communications plans to create graphic designs that increase awareness of March of Dimes Canada and promote greater engagement in its mission.
· Builds relationships and liaises with internal clients – identifying and coordinating their graphic design needs.
· Collaborates with copywriters and digital team members to develop materials together.
· Handles a range of work, including the creation of English and French graphic identities and logos, digital and email marketing assets, infographics, print collateral, reports and publications, stationery and templates, etc.
· Oversees the work of suppliers such as photographers, illustrators, and printers to ensure quality work delivered on time and on budget.
· Manage junior staff, e.g. interns, on seasonal and as-needed bases.
· Ensures all materials produced are accessible for people with disabilities.
· Stays current with industry standards.
Qualifications and experience:
· Post-secondary degree in graphic design.
· Five years’ experience working for a non-profit, corporate, public sector or agency environment.
· Graphic design portfolio demonstrating a variety of visual styles and deliverables in digital media.
· Experience in designing digital assets, marketing collateral, brand identities, and presentation slides/templates. Experience with video and multimedia would be an asset.
· Knowledge of AODA and strong familiarity with leading practices for accessible and inclusive graphic design
· A clear understanding of how to drive engagement primarily through digital channels
· Solid intuition, detail-oriented, with a passion for design, especially in relation to branding and marketing.
· Self-initiator who's naturally energized by new ideas and insights from others, able to prioritize projects, communicate progress, work under pressure, and deliver within tight deadlines.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
· Web design experience including prototyping using Adobe XD .
· Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and Indesign).
· Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
