Job summary

MacEwan University is seeking a Senior Database Administrator for a full-time continuing role within Information Technology Services. You will administer Oracle and SQL Server environments, ensure availability, security, backups, and performance, and support PeopleSoft, cloud, and data platforms.

This hands-on role requires a bachelor’s degree and seven years of IT experience with Oracle databases, plus experience with PeopleSoft and Azure/AWS data services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field.
• Seven years IT experience with at least 3 years Oracle DB administration.
• Experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle, SQL Server in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle databases in AWS RDS and on-premise environments.
• Ensure database availability, security, backup/recovery, patching, upgrades.
• Troubleshoot complex Oracle database issues in production.
• Plan PeopleSoft migrations, refreshes, upgrades, and lifecycle activities.
• Support PeopleSoft administration, including patches and migrations.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure reliable operation and document procedures.
• Provide support for SQL Server, Azure SQL, and other data platforms.
• Support data warehousing and ETL pipelines (Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory).
