Job summary

Seequent Limited in Calgary is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join Seequent Labs, focusing on generative AI, agentic AI, and data science for subsurface modelling. You will work in a multidisciplinary team delivering prototypes and integrated AI solutions for geoscience workflows.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in ML research and development, experience with LLMs, LangChain, LangGraph, Python, PyTorch, and cloud data solutions, plus strong collaboration and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of ML R&D experience including deep learning and advanced techniques.
• Experience using large language models and LangChain/LangGraph.
• Experience with imagery, GIS or 3D data (point cloud/meshes) preferred.
• Commercial software development experience is a plus.
• Experience with cloud-based data solutions and Python/PyTorch.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Problem-solve geoscience challenges using AI/ML methods and LLMs.
• Develop and optimize AI/ML algorithms with robust evaluation.
• Deliver prototypes and integrated algorithms addressing customer workflows.
• Lead data acquisition, cleaning, and training dataset preparation.
• Present results to peers and stakeholders and share knowledge.
