Job summary

407 ETR seeks a Senior Data Scientist to leverage customer, digital and transportation data to derive pricing, marketing, and traveler insights. You will mentor junior colleagues and partner with stakeholders to frame business problems and deliver actionable data-driven solutions.

This role is part of a collaborative Data Science and Analytics team in a startup-minded environment, located at 6300 Steeles Ave West, Woodbridge, Ontario.

Qualifications

• University degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
• Graduate degree in Statistics or Operations Research preferred.
• 6+ years of data science experience with clustering, regression, classification, anomaly detection and ML.
• Advanced coding skills with Python within AWS cloud environment.
• Knowledge of Tableau, Spark, Gurobi, Sagemaker advantageous.
• Strong business analysis, research and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities; able to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills; entrepreneurial spirit.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and analyze data to understand customer behavior from internal and external sources.
• Build targeting and pricing models, plus optimization using Python and related tools.
• Analyze target customer groups (segments) for marketing and pricing programs.
• Ad hoc analysis and modeling of data.
• Lead project-based work with key business stakeholders.
• Mentor junior team members on statistical techniques and experimental design.
• Develop customer analytic models like price elasticity, churn, lifetime value, and segmentation.
• Collaborate with IT to plan data storage and new data fields; represent the department in committees.

Title: Senior Data Scientist Department: Data Science and Analytics Location: 6300 Steeles Ave West, Woodbridge Total Potential Compensation: $120,000-$165,000

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will assist in leveraging customer, digital and transportation datasets to create insights on pricing, marketing and customer travel behavior. The Sr. Data Scientist will assist the Director of Data Analytics and other key stakeholders to bring actionable data driven solutions to 407 ETR. They will have the expertise and knowledge to mentor more junior members while also having the business acumen to understand how to frame a business problem and deliver insight that is actionable. This position is part of a highly collaborative and energetic team in a start-up minded environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assemble and analyze data to understand customer behavior from existing 407 ETR data, external data sources and emerging sources.
• Building Targeting & Pricing models, as well as optimization using python, gurobi or the like.
• Undertake analysis of target customer groups (segments) for specific marketing and pricing programs and assess opportunities and strategies for marketing.
• Ad hoc analysis and modeling of data.
• Lead project-based work with key business stakeholders.
• Strong Mentoring and leadership skills to support and coach junior members on statistical techniques and experimental design.
• Strong experience building customer analytic models like: price elasticity, attrition, lifetime value, churn and segmentation.
• Ability to understand business stakeholder’s issues and create valuable insight.
• Raise awareness and action of data science within the company to help focus on fact-based decisions.
• Support the Department along with the Information Technology Management Department in planning the structure and storage of new customer related data fields.
• Represent the department in committees within the organization.

Qualifications:

• A University degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
• Graduate degree in Statistics or Operations Research preferred.
• 6+ years working experience with data science techniques: clustering, regression models, classification, anomaly detection and other machine learning techniques.
• Advanced coding skills with Python within AWS cloud environment is required.
• Knowledge of Tableau, Spark, Gurobi, Sagemaker is advantageous.
• Well-developed business analysis, research and creative problem-solving skills.
• Organizational skills and time management skills; planning and project management, and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and work ethic.
• Highly collaborative team player with an entrepreneurial spirit.
