The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Data Analytics team. Reporting to the Supervisor, Advanced Analytics, the successful candidate will develop advanced analytics, predictive models, and data-driven solutions to inform strategic decisions across our oil & gas operations.

Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Modeling
  • Identify, collect, and transform large datasets into actionable insights using statistical techniques, machine learning models, and predictive analytics.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, processing, and storage.
Solution Development & Deployment
  • Design, implement, and refine predictive models and algorithms to optimize performance, reduce costs, and support growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy machine learning solutions and automate processes where feasible.
Business Collaboration
  • Create dashboards, visualizations, and reports to communicate complex analytical results to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Translate business challenges into data-driven solutions, identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency.
  • Support the adoption of new tools and workflows.
Collaboration & Best Practices
  • Work within an agile framework to prototype, test, and refine solutions rapidly.
  • Promote best practices in data science, including code quality, version control, MLOps, and collaboration tools.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in analytics, AI/ML, and data engineering to enhance capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience working with large datasets, predictive modeling, dashboards, and visualizations.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry is an asset.
  • Proven ability to build and deploy machine learning models (regression, classification, time series, deep learning).
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL, and familiarity with cloud-based data platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver tangible business value.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate technical insights into practical recommendations.
  • Experience with big data technologies and data pipelines (e.g., Databricks) is an asset.
