Senior Criminal Defense Lawyer (Remote)
Our client, a leading criminal defense firm with multiple offices across Ontario, is currently seeking a highly organized and experienced Senior Criminal Defense Lawyer with at least 6+ years of experience. The ideal candidate will have trial experience and manage cases from intake through to trial and will join their legal team in London, Ontario.
In this role, your responsibilities will include providing legal counsel and guidance to clients. You will appear in docket court, apply for adjournments, resolve matters, seek referral of clients to Alternative Measures, and argue sentence positions. You will also meet with clients to assist in trial preparation and draft legal opinions, court briefs, and Charter Notices.
Additionally, you will conduct bail hearings, peace bond hearings, firearm application hearings, CPTs, JPTs, pre-trial applications, trials, sentencing hearings, and appeals. You will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of junior associates across various offices.
To qualify for this role, candidates should have a minimum of 6+ years of experience, with trial experience being essential. Excellent communication skills are a must. A commitment to delivering exceptional, cost-effective, and responsive legal services to clients is also crucial. Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, research, and writing abilities, along with a dedication to personal growth, curiosity, collaboration, and diplomacy.
