Job summary

Agilus by Synergie seeks a Senior Controls & Automation Engineer in Calgary to lead on-site commissioning and office-based engineering activities. You will report to the Control, Automation and Electrical Lead on larger projects and to the Project Manager on smaller efforts.

Requirements include a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, P.Eng. designation, 10+ years in project engineering with commissioning experience, and strong PLC/DCS and electrical design skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and P.Eng. designation.
• 10+ years of project engineering experience, including commissioning.
• Strong background in electrical design within large multidisciplinary projects.
• Hands-on site experience and ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in PLC/DCS programming (Rockwell preferred); DeltaV and ABB assets.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute commissioning activities, including FAT/SAT testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve on-site technical issues with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and guide contractor personnel.
• Support project delivery by managing scope, schedule, cost and engineering requirements.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, drawings and shop drawings.
• Monitor fabrication and construction to ensure design compliance.
• Conduct quality reviews, audits and corrective actions.

Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Senior Controls & Automation Engineer in the Engineering consulting industry in Calgary, Alberta.

The Senior Control, Automation and Electrical Engineer will report to the Project Manager on small projects and for larger projects, to the Control, Automation and Electrical Lead Engineer. This role will have two distinct functions: 1) on-site commissioning engineer, and 2) office-based as Senior Control, Automation and Electrical Engineer.

Total rewards: $110000.00 - $160000.00 annually

Typical day

• Independently execute commissioning activities, including FAT and SAT testing.

Successful candidates will have

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and P.Eng. designation
• 10+ years of project engineering experience, including 2-3 years of commissioning.
• Strong background in electrical design within large, multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Hands-on site experience with the ability to work independently and resolve issues.
• Proficiency in PLC/DCS programming, preferably Rockwell; DeltaV and ABB experience is an asset.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, SmartPlant Electrical, and SmartPlant Instrumentation.
• Strong leadership, communication, planning, and organizational skills with experience supervising teams.
• Safety-focused, self-motivated professional willing to travel and work in fast-paced environments.
