Job summary

NORR in Calgary seeks a Senior Contract Administrator to oversee construction projects within our Commercial Studio, ensuring Contractors and Owners fulfill their contractual obligations and supporting constructability reviews. You will conduct site visits, review shop drawings and progress payments, and coordinate with contractors, sub-consultants and authorities to resolve constructability concerns.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of project work experience.
• Experience in strategic and business development, project management, and client management is required.
• Registered with a relevant professional association is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform site visits to determine compliance with the construction contract and building/safety codes; prepare reports and liaise to resolve issues.
• Track and review shop drawings, schedules, payments, change documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with contractor, sub-consultants, or authorities on constructability or owner concerns and document issues.
• Prepare project change documentation, including sketches and drawings.
• Attend and conduct progress meetings to exchange information and resolve concerns with stakeholders.
• Ensure all close-out documents are submitted to the appropriate parties on project completion.

Job description

Justice architecture demands multi-faceted design to uphold and express the legal process, and achieve efficient and functional operations, while maintaining a safe and secure environment. Our experience in the design of judicial buildings spans more than 30 years across all levels of government including courthouses, police facilities and detention and correctional centers. As a Senior Contract Administrator, you will observe the construction of projects within our Commercial Studio to ensure that Contractors and Owners are fulfilling their respective roles and obligations as outlined in the construction contract. In addition, they will assist in realizing the project by providing Contractors with document clarifications, technical interpretations/recommendations, and review of financial progress. Contract Administrators also assist design and technical staff with constructability reviews and feedback.

You Will Make an Impact by

• Performing site visits to determine compliance with construction contract and relevant building and safety codes; preparing reports to document progress, identifying any deviation from the construction contract and liaising with owner and contractor to resolve issues in a timely manner
• Tracking and reviewing shop drawings, schedules, samples, progress payments, alternate requests, and project change documents to ensure all project documentation is accurate and complete
• Coordinating with contractor, sub-consultants, or relevant building authorities to address and document issues with constructability or owner concerns
• Preparing project change documentation, including sketches and drawings
• Attending and conducting progress meetings before, during, and after the duration of the project to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns with various key stakeholders
• Ensuring that all project close out documents are submitted and forwarded to appropriate parties upon completion of the project

You will Bring to the Team

• Architectural or engineering systems design and presentation, M&E and structural building systems, permit and building code
• Registered with a relevant professional association is an asset
• Experience in strategic development, business development, project management, and client management is required
• Possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, flexibility, and resourcefulness
• 10+ years of project work experience
• Experience in Justice projects is an asset

The hiring base salary range for this Senior Contract Administrator position is $90,000 - $125,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, internal equity and skills.
