Job summary

The Talent Company is seeking a Senior Consultant, HR Technology, to lead and optimize Workday configurations across Core HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, and related modules. You will partner with HR stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable technology solutions and drive continuous improvement in a collaborative, autonomous environment.

The role is based in Canada, with an on-site 3 days per week work arrangement at the Etobicoke office.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years in HR technology and/or Workday.
  • Hands-on Workday configuration experience.
  • Experience across sandbox, preview, and production.
  • Experience with Core HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, Recruiting, surveys, and e-learning.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to assess broader business/technical implications of changes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level technical expertise and leadership across Workday environments.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and support Workday across sandbox, preview, and production environments.
  • Support and optimize Workday functionality across Core HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, Recruiting, surveys, and e-learning.
  • Assess enhancement requests and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Evaluate cross-functional and downstream impacts of proposed system changes.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Payroll, and other stakeholders to deliver solutions.
  • Act as trusted advisor to business stakeholders on Workday capabilities and best practices.
  • Push back on enhancement requests when appropriate and recommend alternatives.
  • Contribute to ongoing optimization and evolution of HR technology landscape.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing emerging HR technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with HR Technology colleagues on initiatives and deliverables.

The Impact You Will Have

As the Senior Consultant, HR Technology, you will be a key technical and strategic resource within the HR Technology function. Working closely with HR Technology leadership and cross-functional HR stakeholders, you will use your deep Workday expertise to evaluate requirements, design effective solutions, and ensure technology enhancements consider the broader impact on the organization.

This is a role for someone who can operate independently, bring strong technical judgment to the table, and confidently challenge requests when there is a better or more effective solution. You will play an important role in shaping and continuously improving the organization's HR technology landscape.

What You Will Do
  • Provide senior-level technical expertise and leadership across the organization's Workday environment.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and support Workday across sandbox, preview, and production environments.
  • Support and optimize Workday functionality across Core HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, Recruiting, employee surveys, e-learning, and related HR technology.
  • Assess enhancement requests, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and determine appropriate implementation approaches.
  • Evaluate the cross-functional and downstream impacts of proposed system changes.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners, Payroll, Centres of Excellence, and other stakeholders to understand needs and deliver effective technology solutions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, guiding Workday capabilities, configuration, and best practices.
  • Push back on enhancement requests when appropriate and provide recommendations that balance business needs, system functionality, and organizational impact.
  • Contribute to the ongoing optimization and evolution of the organization's HR technology ecosystem.
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of emerging HR technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with HR Technology colleagues while taking ownership of assigned initiatives and deliverables.
What You Will Bring
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant HR Technology and/or Workday experience.
  • Strong hands-on Workday configuration experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working across Workday sandbox, preview, and production environments.
  • Experience with multiple Workday modules, ideally including Core HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, Recruiting, employee surveys, and e-learning.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to assess the broader business and technical implications of system changes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • A consultative approach, with the confidence to challenge requirements and recommend alternative solutions when appropriate.
  • The ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership of deliverables.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate business needs into practical technology solutions.

Work Environment
  • This is a corporate HR Technology role working closely with HR Technology leadership and stakeholders across the organization.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy and independence.
  • The role includes regular collaboration and one-on-one meetings with HR Technology leadership.
  • The office is located in Etobicoke near Cloverdale Mall, and the on-site requirements are 3 days per week, which is non-negotiable.

HIRING RANGE

The anticipated hiring range for this role is an annual salary of $120,000 - $135,000. 15% annual bonus, 3 weeks of vacation plus the Christmas week off, and benefits effective from day one.
