Job summary

CIBC is seeking a Senior Consultant, Data Quality within the Risk Business Intelligence Office (RBIO) in Toronto. You will own risk reporting projects, ensure data quality, and collaborate across Product, Finance, Risk, and Technology to deliver robust reporting and analytics solutions.

The role supports a hybrid work arrangement (1–3 days on-site) and requires strong SQL, data warehousing, and BI tool expertise (Cognos, Tableau, Power BI).

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering data warehousing and reporting projects.
  • Strong data analysis skills including SQL and data mapping.
  • Proficiency with BI tools such as Cognos, Tableau, and Power BI.
  • Degree in Business, Finance, Risk, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Own assigned projects supporting monthly/quarterly retail credit risk reporting for RBIO and regulators.
  • Develop detailed requirements to ensure high data quality in reporting solutions.
  • Collaborate with Product, Finance, Risk, and Technology teams on data and analytics initiatives.
  • Lead end-to-end testing and ensure on-time delivery in a hybrid work setting.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Senior Consultant, Data Quality, within the Risk Business Intelligence Office (RBIO), you will apply your strong reporting and data analysis skillsets, combined with an understanding of Risk Management to further RBIO’s purpose of "Acting as a trusted advisor" by enhancing risk domain business intelligence in CIBC. Your accountabilities include taking ownership of the assigned projects that support monthly and quarterly retail credit risk reporting to various CIBC partner teams as well as to the regulators. You will also be accountable for developing detailed requirements ensuring high data quality in the development and maintenance of robust reporting and analytic solutions in collaboration with various teams across Product, Finance, Risk, and Technology.

How You’ll Succeed
  • Leadership – You will build strong trustful relationships with your team members inside RBIO and with partner teams. You will be accountable for running a project or process to completion by taking on the role of an owner, solving for roadblocks and proactively identifying possible issues for the overall success of the group. You take opportunities to provide advice to your team, including ongoing feedback, support, and mentorship.
  • Data Quality – You understand the importance of data quality in reporting and are mindful of the impacts of low data quality to reporting. You are systematic in adhering to the processes related to monitoring data quality, raising data quality issues, and taking ownership to solve them in both production reporting and project delivery setting.
  • Business and Data Analysis – Working closely with partners such as risk data consumers and risk data providers, you will provide analysis and support to the group with concepts around ingesting, measuring, monitoring, and reporting retail risk data to regulators and senior management. You are well versed in SQL and be a reliable liaison between business and technology groups. You understand the processes related to project delivery such as requirements analysis and user acceptance testing.
  • Projects & Testing – Identify obstacles or risks that may impact a project’s timeline or success and provide regular status updates to the business. Keep the lines of communication open with stakeholders and elevate issues when necessary. Ensure that all test deliverables are received, approved, and aligned to your project’s timeline, budget and goals. Lead the investigation and translation of business requirements into test cases. Design and manage end-to-end testing activities for various projects across the business.
