Job summary

McElhanney Ltd. in Calgary, AB is seeking an Intermediate Construction Inspector, Construction Technologist, or Engineer to deliver inspection services on municipal and transportation infrastructure across Alberta.

You will work with project managers, clients, contractors, and field staff to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with specifications and contracts. Based in Calgary with travel to project sites, you will mentor junior staff, support QA activities, and help manage field records,

Qualifications

• 6+ years of construction inspection experience on municipal, transportation, or civil infrastructure projects.
• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or degree in Civil Engineering.
• Eligible for or currently holding a professional designation such as C.E.T., A.Sc.T., P.Tech., E.I.T., or P.Eng. in Alberta is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site construction inspection to monitor quality and progress.
• Complete daily inspection reports and maintain project records.
• Interpret and apply project specifications, standards, and drawings during construction.
• Identify inspection issues and communicate them to project managers, clients, and contractors.
• Track quantities and assist with progress payment documentation.
• Monitor construction progress and provide updates to project teams.
• Mentor junior inspection staff and support QA activities.
