Job Description

Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to the office at least three days per week.

The Role

The Data Engineering organization at General Motors is at the forefront of innovation, leveraging data to drive the future of mobility. We seek a highly motivated and detail-oriented Calibration Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for defining and validating development and production values for critical configuration files that govern vehicle control and data systems. A strong understanding of vehicle architectures, communication protocols, and software development principles, along with excellent collaboration skills, is essential.

What You'll Do

  1. Define and document calibration values for control and data planes, including calibration guides and procedures.
  2. Develop and maintain configuration files for vehicle control and data systems.
  3. Collaborate with software, controls, and validation teams to understand system requirements and ensure accurate calibration.
  4. Understand vehicle architectures and interactions between ECUs and systems.
  5. Utilize communication protocols such as CAN and Ethernet to define and validate network configurations.
  6. Analyze vehicle data logs to identify calibration issues and optimize performance.
  7. Develop and execute test plans for calibration validation.
  8. Troubleshoot and resolve calibration issues during development and production.
  9. Maintain detailed records of calibration parameters and validation results.
  10. Contribute to process and tool improvements.
  11. Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide calibration expertise.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in automotive engineering, software development, or calibration roles.
  3. Strong C/C++ software development skills.
  4. Solid knowledge of vehicle architectures and ECUs.
  5. Proficiency with CAN and Ethernet protocols.
  6. Attention to detail and accuracy in technical tasks.
  7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  8. Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  9. Ability to work on-site in Oshawa or Markham, Ontario, three days a week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive calibration tools and processes.
  • Familiarity with data logging and analysis tools like CANalyzer, CANoe.
  • Knowledge of automotive safety standards such as ISO 26262.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python for data analysis or automation.
