Job summary

Toronto Community Housing Corporation seeks a Senior Program Leader to design, implement and evaluate community recreation programs across Toronto locations. You will work with residents to plan cultural, educational, recreational and social activities, promoting TCHC programs and ensuring safe operation of spaces.

The role is temporary/seasonal, up to 25 hours per week, with some evenings and weekends required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge, experience and/or academic background in working in a community based setting.
• Experience with program planning, implementation, and evaluation of community based programs.
• Demonstrated experience in community outreach.
• Proven administrative skills.
• Proven organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in organizing, promoting and/or facilitation of special events.
• First Aid qualifications (minimum of Emergency First Aid) is an asset, or must be willing to obtain certificate prior to commencement of work assignment.

Responsibilities

• Identify residents’ needs for cultural, educational, recreational and social activities in collaboration with the Program Coordinator.
• Support development and implementation of a variety of social and recreational activities meeting community needs.
• Promote all TCHC lead programs and activities on an ongoing basis.
• Evaluate programs in collaboration with on-site staff.
• Oversee community space during program hours and report deficiencies to manager.
• Ensure the recreation program operates safely.
• Liaise with front-line staff to ensure cooperative programming.
• Supervise and support on-site program staff.
• Conduct inventory and inform the Program Lead of supplies needed.
• Attend staff meetings and city-wide events as directed.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with other programs and agencies.
• Wear official staff uniform and nametag while on duty.
• Ensure final program report is completed and all forms/supplies handed in.
• Other duties as assigned.
