Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Advisor Communications, the Senior Communications Specialist will support the planning, development and execution of communications to Sun Life’s advisors and support teams through a variety of channels. It’s a fast-paced, rewarding role that requires meticulous attention to detail, plain language writing skills, and a passion for bringing people along a journey through authentic, engaging conversations.
What will you do?
- Develop communication strategies to support initiatives, events, and ongoing communications
- Identify content opportunities that engage our audiences in new and effective ways
- Intake communication requests and then adapt messaging to ensure it resonates with the target audiences
- Write clear and engaging content in plain language that respects Sun Life writing and brand guidelines
- Make sure content is written as a compelling story that aligns with the Retail Advice and Solutions vision and clearly communicates the value and benefits
- Support a variety of channels such as email, internal social media, intranet, newsletters, chatter, and leader presentations
- Assist in the deployment process by managing advance reviews and requesting French translation
- Ensure legal and compliance reviews are completed and content is updated where required
- Develop strong relationships with key business partners and recommend the right communication approaches that help them achieve business objectives
- Help ensure metrics are in place and monitored to track the effectiveness of communications activities
What you need to succeed?
- 3 to 5 years in a communications role ideally within insurance, wealth management, or banking
- Experience developing communication strategies and plans
- Exceptional written communications skills
- A solid understanding of plain language writing principles
- Excellent verbal communications skills (the kind you need to negotiate with and influence colleagues)
- A self-starter with strong organization skills
- The ability to juggle multiple and sometimes changing priorities, projects, and tasks
- Respect for sensitive or confidential information that must be protected at all times
- Post-secondary education in related field (e.g., communications, business) or equivalent work experience
- Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only due to frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or partners across Canada or worldwide. Outside Quebec, bilingualism is an asset.
Preferred skills:
- Some experience with HTML, Adobe Experience Manager, and email marketing software is an asset
- Experience with multimedia editing and production (video/audio) is an asset

The salary range is CAD 58,000 to CAD 97,000, depending on location and experience. In addition to base pay, employees may participate in incentive plans based on performance. Sales roles may have additional sales incentives.
