An established industry player is seeking a Senior Communications Advisor to work closely with the Premier and Cabinet in Yellowknife. Department: Executive and Indigenous Affairs
The Department of Executive and Indigenous Affairs works to provide overall management and direction to the Executive branch of the Government of the Northwest Territories. The Department is responsible for: coordinating and supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of initiatives and actions in support of cross-government goals The Department is responsible for ensuring mutually respectful intergovernmental relations between the territorial government and Aboriginal, provincial, territorial and national and international governments are maintained; along with negotiating and implementing land, resources And self-government agreements that address Aboriginal rights in the Northwest Territories.

Based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, the Senior Communications Advisor position works closely with the Premier and Cabinet to help shape how the Government of the Northwest Territories communicates with the public. This role is part of a small, fast-moving team that supports Ministers with everything from speeches and media interviews to strategy and messaging on major government decisions.
Reporting to the Manager of Cabinet Communications, you'll be responsible for providing strategic advice and planning on key government priorities. You'll help write and review materials, support Ministers in their public appearances, and make sure the government's messages are clear, consistent, and aligned with its overall direction.
This is a great opportunity for someone who understands the political landscape, knows how government works, and has strong writing and critical thinking skills.
What we're looking for:
Typically, these skills and expert knowledge are acquired through the completion of a degree in communications, public relations, political science, public administration or a relevant field and five (5) years of progressive communications experience in a northern environment; or equivalencies can include:
