Job summary

Cowan Litigation is a boutique commercial litigation firm in Canada, with a primarily remote role and occasional in-person court or client meetings in Toronto or Vaughan. The Senior Commercial Litigation Lawyer will handle matters end to end as the lead attorney, collaborating with colleagues on strategy and delivering high-quality work.

Licensed Ontario lawyer with 5+ years of experience is required; strong judgment and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial litigation experience in Ontario.
• Licensed with the Law Society of Ontario, in good standing.
• Comfort running files independently, including client management, pleadings, examinations, motions, and mediation.
• Strong judgment, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Experience in construction or franchise litigation is an asset.

Senior Commercial Litigation Lawyer (5+ years) – Remote

Pay: CA$160,000.00 - CA$220,000.00 per year

Cowan Litigation is a commercial litigation boutique focused on high-quality work for a select group of clients and referral partners, not high volume. Our files include shareholder and partnership disputes, contractual disputes, lease disputes, and real estate litigation, as well as construction and franchise disputes.

The role

You’ll be the primary lawyer on your files from intake through resolution. You’ll work directly with clients and run matters end to end, and you’ll have colleagues to think through strategy with, because good litigation is rarely a solo exercise.

What we offer

• An almost fully remote position. In-person attendance is needed only sometimes for things like court and occasional client meetings at our Toronto or Vaughan office.
• A billable target of 1,500 hours.
• Compensation of $160,000–$220,000.
• Experienced clerk and support staff.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of commercial litigation experience in Ontario.
