Job description

Southwestern Manufacturing Inc. operates in a competitive global market producing a wide range of metal-based assemblies and components across various industry sectors, including but not limited to Mining, Oil & Gas, Crane and Drag-line Components, Agricultural, Machine Building, and Heavy Equipment Manufacturing.

We are seeking to hire 2 permanent full-time (minimum of 40-50 hours per week) experienced CNC Machinists (Class A) to start as soon as possible.

Our shift rotation includes days and afternoons.

  1. Minimum 10 years of experience with extensive knowledge of programming G Codes for Fanuc and Tosnuc controllers, and Heidenhain Conversational.
  2. Minimum 10 years of experience operating CNC horizontal/vertical milling machines and CNC turning machines, machining high-tolerance, custom components.
  3. Highly skilled in 2D machining, with all operations including programming performed by the operator.
  4. Extensive knowledge of tooling and tooling operations.
  5. Proficient in Fanuc, Tosnuc, Fagor, and Heidenhain controllers.
  6. Must be proficient in manual G code programming.
  7. Thorough knowledge and experience reading blueprints from start to finish.
  8. Ability to operate Horizontal and Vertical Boring Mills efficiently.
  9. Extreme attention to detail due to industry tight tolerances.
  10. Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  11. Able to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
  12. Shift work (days and afternoons).
  13. Review BOMs and routers to identify improvements in material and labor utilization.
  14. Document and communicate continuous improvement efforts to management regularly.
  15. Collaborate with Production and Engineering teams for performance enhancements.
  16. Identify potential areas of improvement with production personnel.
  17. Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric tolerance interpretation.
  18. Train helpers and operators on adjustments.

Duties :

  1. Read drawings, specifications, and engineering information with minimal supervision.
  2. Possess excellent tooling knowledge.
  3. Set up and operate CNC machines.
  4. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables.
  5. Set up and adjust production machinery and tools.
  6. Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerances.
  7. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.
  8. Maintain inspection records and reports.
  9. Verify dimensions of machined parts using precise measuring instruments.
  10. Verify product dimensions for accuracy and conformance to specifications.
  11. Compute dimensions and tolerances; measure and lay out workpieces.
