Job summary

CMHC | Senior Specialist, Cloud Infrastructure Operations Engineering is responsible for designing, deploying, and optimizing cloud infrastructure across Azure. You will drive automation, implement IaC, and enforce security while collaborating with architecture, development, and security teams.

The role emphasizes operational excellence, pro-active automation, and mentoring junior staff to support CMHC's digital transformation and resilient cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in IT/CS/Networking or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of cloud architecture, engineering, and operations.
• Experience with hybrid cloud, Azure AD/EntraID, and multi-cloud governance.
• Advanced IaC and automation scripting (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Strong networking, virtualization, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud security knowledge.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor staff.
• Experience presenting technical/financial roadmaps to executives and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Participate in solution design with Enterprise Architecture and deploy Azure resources.
• Implement and optimize IaC using ARM/Bicep, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible for scalable cloud environments.
• Advise leadership on automation strategies and share best practices with peers to drive operational excellence.
• Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of learning and development.
• Apply cloud security best practices and conduct regular audits of privileged accounts and settings.
• Ensure uptime, incident response, and regulatory compliance, logging security incidents per privacy laws.
