The Opportunity

Calling on a Senior Cloud Engineer who can seamlessly combine technical expertise with business insight to meet our cloud computing needs, including infrastructure design, maintenance, support, and planning.

You should have experience in cloud-based technologies, with a strong understanding of PaaS platforms, and be skilled in customizing these for our business to enhance security and efficiency. The role involves evolving our cloud capabilities, developing your skills, and staying updated on technological advancements.

Office location: ideally Waterloo - ON, Toronto - ON, or Boston - USA (possible)

Work arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote); remote work not available

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and implement efficient cloud solutions.
2. Design, develop, and deploy cloud applications.
3. Manage cloud environments securely.
4. Deploy and troubleshoot cloud initiatives throughout the development lifecycle.
5. Train teams on new cloud initiatives.
6. Proactively solve issues using strong problem-solving skills.
7. Develop RESTful APIs, integrating with data providers using JSON or XML.
8. Lead and standardize processes within the Cloud Engineering team.
9. Design web services and implement geographically redundant services.
10. Automate cloud platforms across the organization.
11. Participate in Agile sprints and support rapid development.
12. Design, test, and maintain APIs, working across data, orchestration, rules, and transactional stacks.
13. Write code to specifications, conduct tests, and integrate continuously.
14. Research new technologies and strategies to address technical challenges and improve efficiency.
15. Promote Agile principles and practices.

Minimum Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
2. 8+ years in IT, with 2-5+ years in architecting scalable distributed systems.
3. 2+ years experience with Azure Cloud.
4. Experience with enterprise PaaS implementations, preferably AKS.
5. Knowledge of cloud architectures (Public/Private/Hybrid) using AKS, Azure SQL, etc.
6. Experience with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, and Desired State Configuration.
7. Certification in Kubernetes or Terraform.
8. Knowledge of Unix and Bosh CLI.
9. Experience with application development in open-stack environments.
10. Experience in Agile DevOps environments with CI/CD.
11. Excellent communication skills across management levels.
12. Knowledge of modern software architectures, API development, scripting, and related technologies.
