Job summary

Autodesk Construction Solutions is seeking a Principal Software Developer for Databases to lead cloud data infrastructure strategy and drive end-to-end delivery across the SRS platform. You will influence architecture, set standards, and mentor engineers, shaping how the organization uses shared storage infrastructure at scale.

The role requires deep expertise in Postgres/DynamoDB, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, and event streaming with Kafka, along with strong leadership and communication to align

Qualifications

• 6+ years in software engineering for platform, infra, or data eng.
• 5+ years Kubernetes architecture at scale.
• 7+ years Terraform experience.
• 7+ years cloud data technologies experience.
• Deep Postgres or DynamoDB experience at scale.
• Lead technical projects end-to-end.
• Hands-on Kafka or event streaming in production.
• ORM tooling to drive semantic eventing.
• Kubernetes CRD design/operation.
• Strong AWS background (IAM, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, ECS/EKS).
• Able to align technical teams and consensus-building across engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of high-impact SRS platform capabilities (Kafka CDC, schema automation, API, fleet tooling).
• Set technical direction for SRS sub-areas and standards.
• Assess cloud platform needs at scale and drive roadmap.
• Own fleet operations: capacity, monitoring, tuning, replication for reporting.
• Institutionalize best practices and health models for the database fleet.
• Build network of storage champions and consult product teams on readiness.
• Own reliability: monitoring, runbooks, on-call response.
• Coordinate with leaders to sequence work and tradeoffs.
• Drive migration & schema lifecycle initiatives across the fleet.
• Mentor P2/P3 engineers and conduct design reviews.
• Represent SRS requirements in cross-org forums.
• Provide tactical leadership during production emergencies.
