You will support the Senior Claims Manager by providing guidance on claims management best practices and ensuring effective collaboration across business units and external stakeholders. As a subject matter expert in third-party liability claims, you will negotiate and settle claims and liaise with subcontractors’ insurers on both non-litigated and litigated claims. Additionally, you will provide guidance, support, and development opportunities to enhance team performance and ensure effective management of Risk Coordinators.

This is a work-from-home position, with the understanding that you will be required to be in the office as needed based on business requirements. If you are looking for a career where you can make a meaningful difference, join our True Blue team today in Edmonton or Calgary, AB!

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Evaluate, adjust, and negotiate self-insured claims (Property, Casualty, Auto) independently, including directing legal counsel and settling claims within delegated authority.
  2. Engage field adjusters, TPAs, and other specialists to support timely and effective claim resolutions.
  3. Lead resolution planning for complex, large-loss, and liability claims, utilizing legal expertise and aligning with internal stakeholder needs.
  4. Interpret insurance policies and endorsements (e.g., DE, LEG), submit loss notices, and manage coverage issues by collaborating with legal, risk, brokers, and insurers.
  5. Conduct kickoff meetings with project teams, clarify claim procedures and responsibilities, and maintain regular communication with all stakeholders to ensure smooth claim handling.
  6. Oversee claim intake, financial documentation, system updates, and reporting, ensuring accurate data management and timely resolution tracking.
  7. Deliver data-driven insights on loss trends, recommend mitigation strategies, and lead the implementation of system enhancements and process improvements.
  8. Develop training materials, lead educational sessions, support SOP/manual development, and serve as a subject matter expert on complex claims.
  9. Manage and coach team members to foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and consistent claims handling practices.
Qualifications:
  1. Minimum of 6 years of practical and relevant experience as a claims professional.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Risk Management is preferred.
  3. Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
  4. Extensive industry knowledge with hands-on experience managing complex liability claims.
  5. Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve insurance claims.
  6. Proficient in RMIS platforms and adaptable to new technologies and systems.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong negotiation abilities.
  8. Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
